(The information below is provided by Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Tsim Sha Tsui.)

Sit back and enjoy a series of Old World wines at the newly expanded Chin Chin Bar Terrace accommodating up to 100 guests. Chin Chin Bar will hold a free tasting of selected Old World wines on 15 February from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, while a two-for-one offer on various types of selected fine Old World wines will be provided daily during Happy Hour from 5:00pm to 9:00pm between 15 February and 15 May.

Savour various highly recommended Old World white wines, including the Bourboulenc, Château d'Anglès, Languedoc France 2008. The Château d'Anglès vines slope gently down to the shores of the Mediterranean, offering exceptional wine growing conditions, such as hard, stony, well-draining limestone soil and a sunny climate. The vineyard focuses on respect for the environment and sustainable practices. This white wine displays a pale yellow colour with golden glints, an elegant bouquet of spring flowers and fresh spices on the nose. It is smooth in the mouth, revealing a rich and long complexity of white fruits balanced by a mineral freshness.

Another good pick of white wines is the Rioja Blanco, Bodegas Altanza, Rioja Spain 2011. Its grape juice is completely clean without any solids and slowly fermented at a temperature of 16 ºC to maintain the best flavour and aromatic qualities of the wine. This white wine has a pale yellow colour and golden glints. On the nose it brings the best expression of an elegant grape, with aromas of tropical fruit, citrus, green apple and hints of mineral. On the palate, it is a very well-balanced wine, with a remarkable acidity but elegant, full of personality and flavour, and tastes sweet, nice and fresh with herbaceous and fruity tones.

Garganega Soave, Nardello Meridies, Veneto Italy 2010 is also one of the worth-exploring white wines. Soave is one of the best-known white wine regions in Italy. The Nardello Meridies comes from 50-year-old Garganega vines on the slopes of Mount Zoppega, where mineral rich clay soils yield intensely flavoured grapes. The grapes are aged in steel tanks rather than oak barrels. On the nose, it has white flower fragrance and citrus scents, while it exhibits bright, lemony peach and citrus flavours on the palate, with a crisp, almond-edged finish.

Chin Chin Bar is also pleased to introduce selected Old World red wines, one of them being Tempranillo and Graciano, Bodegas Vina Ijalba Reserva, Rioja Spain 2006. Rioja was the first region in Spain to be awarded the highest DOCa (Denominación de Origen Calificada) category. It is Rioja's friendly grape-growing conditions which set it apart from other regions of Spain, including considerable variations in the mix of the local soils, ranging from chalk to iron, limestone and clay. The diversity of the terroir is reflected in Rioja's wines. This red wine consists of 80% Tempranillo and 20% Graciano grapes, has a ruby red colour with brick red accents. On the nose, it displays spiciness with notes of cinnamon and vanilla, while on the palate it is smooth and creamy with nice length.

Sangiovese, La Spinetta, Piedmont Italy 2006 is another highly recommended red wine. The aim and philosophy of the winery is to produce great wines which reflect the characteristic of the terroir using only the native grape varieties such as the Sangiovese. This red wine has a deep ruby colour and on the nose it recalls ripe cherries, violets and spices. It possesses ripe fruit flavours in the mouth, a full body with some elegant and a soft tannin.

What’s more? Have a sip of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, Chateau La Rame, Bordeaux France 2009. This red wine is harvested from 30 years old vines, and displays a vivid garnet red with bluish tints. On the nose, it is intense with full-bodied aromas of cassis, raspberry, pepper, mint, cinnamon and vanilla, enhanced by a woody fragrance. On the palate, the red wine is pure, with a tightly-knit, silky texture and very distinct tannins. Spicy and concentrated on the finish.

Chin Chin Bar also provides a delightful selection of snacks to complement the fine Old World wines.
